Officers Due Diligence Training

SAFETY PARTNERS: THE SAFETY EXPERTS

Officers Due Diligence Training

The WHS Act 2011 places a clear duty on officers of corporations and unincorporated bodies, such as clubs and associations, to exercise due diligence in ensuring that their organisation meets its work health and safety responsibilities. This duty requires officers to take a proactive approach in ensuring compliance with these obligations.

As an officer, you must demonstrate that you have taken reasonable steps to ensure due diligence by:

  • Acquiring knowledge of health and safety issues.
  • Understanding operations and associated hazards and risks.
  • Ensuring that appropriate resources and processes are used to eliminate or minimise risks to health and safety.
  • Implementing processes to receive and respond to information about incidents, hazards, and risks.
  • Establishing and maintaining compliance processes by accessing up-to-date safety information.

This training is aimed at individuals with management responsibilities, especially senior managers and board members. The course is designed to provide key information on the WHS Act, specifically for persons conducting a business or undertaking and their officers, with a focus on the positive duty to exercise due diligence.

Our Safety team will cover the following topics:

  • How safety laws work
  • What do terms like Due Diligence and reasonably practicable mean?
  • Case studies;
  • What this will mean in practical terms to the management of safety throughout your business
  • Highlights the key areas this will impact your business; and
  • Issues to consider

The course will be conducted by a WHS Lawyer and Safety Consultant. The training is interactive, with participants encouraged to engage in activities, case studies, and discussions. Each session will last between 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the number of questions from participants. This time does not account for set-up and pack-down for the trainer(s).
