SAFETY PARTNERS: THE SAFETY EXPERTS
FSC Accreditation Audit
An FSC (Federal Safety Commissioner) Accreditation is a detailed process managed by the Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner (OFSC), ensuring businesses meet and uphold strict safety standards within the building and construction industries. Conducting an FSC Audit is essential for businesses seeking to obtain or maintain certification under the WHS Accreditation Scheme. At Safety Partners, we offer full support to guide businesses through each phase of the accreditation journey.
FSC Audit Accreditation Process
The FSC Audit Accreditation process is a multi-step procedure that begins with submitting an application, followed by an on-site audit to assess safety practices and compliance.
Step 1 – Application
The first step in the accreditation process is submitting an application, which includes:
- Company information
- Project details of site locations where the business is the nominated head contractor
- A system map outlining how the business meets each requirement of the audit criteria
After the application is submitted and meets the audit criteria, an onsite audit will be arranged.
Step 2 – Verification Audits
Once the initial step of the accreditation process is completed, a Federal afety Officer (FSO) will assess the business’s WHS management systems. This involves an audit that typically spans multiple days. he Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner (OFSC) will send an audit notification letter, outlining the criteria to be reviewed. A system audit will take place first, followed by a stage 2 audit if any issues are identified.
If the initial audit is successful, a worksite audit will be conducted to verify the implementation of safety measures and risk management practices. During this stage, the Federal Safety Officer (FSO) will engage in discussions with senior management representatives and other relevant site personnel.
Step 3 – Audit Results and Conclusion
After the business’s application is submitted and the on-site audit is completed, the Federal Safety Officer (FSO) will conduct a closing meeting. During this meeting, the FSO will discuss any key issues that have been identified throughout the audit process.
