SAFETY PARTNERS: THE SAFETY EXPERTS
Contractor Management Training
Why should you engage in Contractor Management Training? As an employer, you are responsible for the work performed by contractors at your site, as well as the actions of any subcontractors hired by the primary contractor, even if you’re never interacted with them directly.
The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2011 includes a broad definition of ‘worker,’ which now encompasses contractors. The Act also uses the term ‘caused to be engaged.’ It’s essential that your safety system applies equally to both contractors and employees. This training will guide you through managing this complex arrangement and minimising potential risks. Managers, supervisors, and planners of onsite works should attend to fully understand their responsibilities in managing contractors. We will assist you in ensuring compliance with these safety obligations.
Our training covers topics such as:
- Defines work, health and safety (WHS) legal obligations of PCBU’s, Officers, Workers, and others under the new WHS Act 2011
- Comprehend the importance of workplace health and safety consultation in relation to contractors
- Identify the types of documentation the organisation should be asking of contractors and review their own procedures objectively
- Apply a risk management approach in order to prioritise contractor activity risk
- Develop an appropriate induction
- Consider the requirements of Permits to Work
- Consider online platforms to assist in contractor management
- Recall case examples to apply to their own workplace
- Reporting incidents, injuries or non-compliance requirements, and
- Evaluate and monitor the performance of contractors in relation to health and safety
